Most companies accept the need for training, but the big question is always – which training courses do my people need and ultimately how much is it going to cost?
Some skills shortages are obvious, and if they all were, it would ease the job of developing a training plan. Unfortunately for the most part training is subjective and relies on one person’s opinion of the other persons needs.

The results of the surveys are fed into the computer. The computer matches the scores to the required levels set for each competency, and from these scores develop an individual training plan, which ensures the skills gaps are filled, and that any course specified is a correct use of each training pound.

The limit to this funding is £1000, match funded by the SME. Train to Gain cannot pay for the VAT element so it is the cost excluding VAT. There has to be a minimum of six hours guided training/coaching/mentoring.
Who can benefit from this funding? Anybody from the lowest level of management to directorship. You may put a number of people through a day's course, intensively have one person coached for a period of time or put a couple of people from a management team through ILM qualifications. And there are many other opportunities!
Delivery and invoicing has to be done by 31st March 2008 and the companies then have until 30th June 2008 to submit their claims.
