Course Summary

 

Working in a true team environment will offer many benefits.  How you create your group of people into an active and successful team takes consistent hard work, commitment, trust and organisation.  The team works together in an organised manner to achieve specific goals and their relationships are based more on equality rather than hierarchy.

 

This course is designed for the new or experienced Team Leader or Line Manager who wants to develop new skills to motivate and manage themselves more effectively and the individuals in their team.  They are looking to build a more motivated, solution-orientated, skilled working environment.  One that everyone is happier and proud to be a part of!

9.30am             Taking responsibility for your team’s performance and yourself

Characteristics of teams vs. groups

      • The importance of direction and values in creating effective teams
      • Stages in team development and the use of team roles

Being instinctively aware of how you are perceived by others

      • Do you care enough?

§         Being recognised (admired) as a competent professional.  What does this mean?

      • How do you present yourself – mind and body attitude, presence, tone
      • Taking more ownership and responsibility for your reactions and having a solution-orientated mindset

11.00am           Break

11.15am           Inspiring change in behaviour.  You have to be adaptable first.

      • Appreciating your team’s dynamics; communication and behavioural styles
      • Feedback, recognition and reward techniques to support, motivate and monitor
      • Managing the difficult or defiant team member
      • Handling conflict assertively for long-term effect.  Don’t forget!
      • Staying in control

      • Personal identity – do they feel they belong?  Do they feel they contribute?
