At Crisp Professional Development we believe that Transformational Coaching is the key methodology for raising self-awareness and enabling behavioural change in individuals and organisations. This improves performance, well-being and leadership capability.
Transformational Coaching takes place when the ultimate authority for action, awareness and change remains with the person or team being coached. It can only be effective when the clients do not feel judged by the coach, but instead appreciate that the coach’s single intent is to enable them to perform to the best of their ability.
We coach the whole person
While all our coaching interventions take place within the organisational context (we have a 3-way contract between the coach, the client and the organisational representative), we coach the whole person.
Work impacts life and life impacts work.
We may separate these out into ‘private’ and ‘public’ goals but in our experience both are fundamentally linked.
Transformational Coaching should not be confused with mentoring or training which involves the transfer of relevant knowledge, experiences and information from the ‘expert’ to the ‘learner’ and may well be more concerned with skills development.
You cannot teach a man anything. You can only help him discover it within himself
Coaching must be learned mostly from experience. In the Inner Game approach, coaching can be defined as the facilitation of mobility. It is the art of creating an environment, through conversation and a way of being, that facilitates the process by which a person can move towards desired goals in a fulfilling manner. It requires one essential ingredient that cannot be taught: caring not only for the external result but for the person being coached
